hi guys,

that´s my first post so please be gentle.. i´ve been making knives (handles) since may and sheaths since october

there´s still so much to learn and so much more to improve, but it´s fun nevertheless!

Beautiful Work.

I like that you used the stitching as part of the pattern. Well molded too.

What type of wood is that?

i´m very glad you like it! especially as it is just my third sheath

the wood is called satin wood, has a creamy golden, yellow colour

knife was on order for a friend´s friend with really big hands :biggrin:

Very nice work belabear.....I think those Puuko (sp??) type knives are pretty cool, I see a lot of them posted on the knife forums.

Did you install a welt between the layers of leather where you stitched?

@beandon afraid only the garden variety mushrooms.. ;o)

@rayban yes i inserted a strip of 4mm leather as a welt

but i have to confess i have copied the design from legendary knifemaker bo bergmann´s book on scandinavian sheaths, turned out not so bad at all
