Members mcarminati333 Posted February 24 Members Report Posted February 24 Hey everyone! My name is Michael, and I’m strongly considering restarting my leather restoration business. I had to step away about five years ago when COVID shut me down, but I’ve always loved working with leather and want to get back into it. Before I fully dive in, I’d like to brush up on my skills, techniques, and product knowledge. If you have any recommendations—books, videos, YouTube channels, or other resources—I’d really appreciate it. Looking forward to learning from this community and sharing the journey! Quote
Members HarukiTeramae Posted April 21 Members Report Posted April 21 Hey Michael, welcome back—and props to you for reigniting the passion. Leather restoration is such a unique craft, and there’s real demand for skilled hands in that space. You’ve already got the foundation, so building back up with some fresh resources is a smart move. Books “The Leatherworking Handbook” by Valerie Michael – Great for fundamentals and tools. YouTube Channels The Leather Repair Company (UK-based) – They’re pros at restoration, cleaning, recoloring, and even training. Other Learning Resources Reddit's r/Leathercraft – Active and super helpful. Skillshare/Udemy – Look for courses on leatherwork and restoration (some even offer kits). Manufacturer Websites – Companies like Fiebing’s, Angelus, and Saphir often provide tutorials tailored to their products. Quote
