I purchased a Cobra Class 18 from American Leatherworks last year and received it in October. From the start, it hasn’t sewn properly without constant adjustments. I’ve spent more time tinkering with it than actually sewing.

I spoke with the company’s service technician multiple times about ongoing issues. He gave me a few tips to address minor problems, like when the timing was off and the needle was hitting the bobbin case. I also took it to a local technician for servicing, only to be told that the bobbin case and hook were cheaply made.

After a month of struggling, I called the sales rep to see if I could return the machine, but instead, I was pushed back to their service department to keep troubleshooting.

If I could do it over again, I never would have bought this machine, but now I’m stuck with it. A year later, I’m still fighting with it. I ordered a new bobbin case and hook—hopefully, that helps, but at this point, I’m beyond frustrated.

It cost me nearly $5,000 to get this machine shipped to Canada. For that price, it should just work.
