Removing saddle lac with minimal damage?

Hello, 

I have perused the forums but wanted some updated answers.  
 

I recently got a light oil Don Rich saddle in for cleaning. It is dry and coated in saddle lac. I messaged the maker for their suggestion but they did not answer. 
 

Any suggestions on removal without overly drying out the leather further?
