Tempusfugit Report post Posted February 23, 2008 Here are some pics of my first attempt at leatherwork. It is an OWB magazine carrier for a Kahr P9 mag. Critiques are welcome. What surprised me was how much time it took just to build something this simple. I made several mistakes like folding the leather over and glueing it before stitching the belt loop (Doh!) Stitching gave me the most trouble. The holes were so tight that after inserting the needle, I often had to use pliers to pull it out the other side. Any tips? Bigger awl, smaller needle? I have a question on finishing. I plan to leave it natural color and I purchased some super sheen for the finish. Should I apply any sort of conditioner before finishing with super sheen? For finishing, you might try a little gum tragacanth to rub your edges down, and that's all I would do before applying the super sheen. Anything else will probably darken the leather or soften it.
