One of the things I enjoy is finding old tools and techniques and bringing them back for use in my shop. My most recent acquisition has been an 1868 patent pattern Gomph edge channeler (no idea how to determine actual date of manufacture) and an unbranded Gomph or C.S. Osborn-style straight channeler (also of indeterminate age). These are really cool looking tools, and useful for being able to hide your stitching under a flap the tool cuts. Once the stitching is done you glue the flap back over the thread and like magic, it looks “seamless”. I did a little restoration work on them both and I’m excited to get using them soon.

I’m curious though, does anyone else have channeling tools that they use in their shops?large.DCD87B97-B9AD-43AD-B0ED-A428D7B9FC67.jpeg.5a3406305740cb599001a331cb39af8d.jpeglarge.E9B6C1E6-EC8E-43D8-A6BA-D736B76035A6.jpeg.ddaac984d22dacd543d467649357cb1f.jpeglarge.FD57FF8D-10A2-4BBC-A018-64CB153D1019.jpeg.0267f35b172bed308d83be7f4b600239.jpeglarge.IMG_5098.jpeg.b8c37780712391aacd665ce7494d0465.jpeglarge.IMG_5096.jpeg.0967c2e4bc4649d9bc0bad4275f07c17.jpeg
