Vanessa Report post Posted March 1, 2009 I have a Billy Cook saddle and was curious about what the numbers mean. On the left side of the saddle there is a number on the tag telling you the make of the saddle it has a 4 digit number, then under the skirt there is a 2 digit number and right after is a 4 digit number. Since the numbers are different from the tag and the skirt, what does that read? Thanks
StolpSaddles Report post Posted March 1, 2009 Every saddle maker has their own system for numbering saddles. Some will include seat size, gullet width, year built and saddle number but most people would not be able to decipher them.

Traveller Report post Posted March 2, 2009 I have a Billy Cook saddle (for at least a little while longer!) and as far as I can tell, the 4-digit number stamped on the latigo holder is the style and the one under the skirt is that saddle's own particular number. There will be several of the same style but only one of the saddle's number. This is what I think it's about since I've found other identical BC saddles with the same number stamped on the latigo holder. I hope that helps (and that it's right!).
