Members Double U Leather Posted March 22, 2009 Members Report Posted March 22, 2009 Since rodeo season is just about ready to kick off in a big way, I decided to make something for myself to pack along. It should keep all my papers organized, and may even cause someone to want something similar. Let me know what you think of it. I can tell ya'll this much....dyeing the background was a time consuming, pain in the neck...LOL. Oh and here's the back..........I call the border "Full Snake". You'll see where the snake apparently swallowed a mouse or something....LOL Quote

King's X Posted March 23, 2009 Report Posted March 23, 2009 Nice work! do you mind sharing the finish work besides the dyed background? The tooling looks great. Greetings from Round Rock, Texas Quote
Members Double U Leather Posted March 25, 2009 Author Members Report Posted March 25, 2009 ATX, The finish is a basic Sheridan finish. Here are the steps I did on this one. 1. Tool 2. Dye edges and background 3. Light coat of Neatsfoot (Let dry in the sun for a day) 4. Neatlac (fairly heavy coat, let dry for a day) 5. Antique (let dry for a day) 6. Tan Kote My schedule actually fit this project very well. I had other stuff going on, so I could only do a little bit and then let it sit for a day or say. I think that actually worked to my benefit. I'm glad you like it. Quote
King's X Posted March 26, 2009 Report Posted March 26, 2009 Cool....thanks....It really came out nice. I like the color. Greetings from Round Rock, Texas Quote
Members Double U Leather Posted March 26, 2009 Author Members Report Posted March 26, 2009 Thanks ATX. I really think that by being forced to wait between steps may have helped. This was the first time I had set something out in the sun for a day too. Anyway, glad you like it. Quote
