ladyofthelake Report post Posted April 14, 2009 I will be making hats, some with beaver pelts, Top hats and others. Will also be making motorcycle chaps. Confused on which machine to start with. Been looking at the Artisan 3000, but have not discussed it with anyone. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Jordan Report post Posted April 14, 2009 Welcome. I can not help with machine information but am especially interested in learning about Top Hat design and construction. There are a few machine guru's here that I am sure will steer you in the right direction.

neelsaddlery Report post Posted April 15, 2009 Hello: Sounds like you may need just a lightweight/medium weight machine. If you plan to do top hats, you might want to look at a post bed machine or a patching machine like a singer 29K series. The bigger machines like the 3000 machines can work with lighter weight threads and sew light weight items, but if you are doing these items exclusively, then you may want to consider a more appropriate machine for the task. Because the 441 clones are made to sew heavy weight materials, they are not the best choice for lighter weight items. If you have any additional questions, please let me know.
