Beener Report post Posted April 21, 2009 (edited) Hey everyone. I am picking up a Singer 29K58 at the end of May, the problem is that I am visiting my Scroll Sawing father in the middle of May. My hope was to do some measuring of the machine and have my father make a table attachment while I was there. I won't have the machine before then and I probably won't be back to Manitoba for a year or so. I was ondering if someone with the table attachment could take some pictures and measurements or if someone with the machine itslef could do the same for me. You can email me at ben at hendrixequip dot com Thanks Edited April 21, 2009 by Beener

Beener Report post Posted April 22, 2009 http://www.ismacs.net/singer/p29.html Thanks. I have that link. I am specifically after things like the thickness of the table, the height of the table, actual dimensions of the arm. I have some pictures but there is some things that I need specifics on. Thanks again. Ben
rdb Report post Posted April 22, 2009 I'm hoping someone comes along for you and shares a pattern they might have, but... There really isn't that much to it. That page gives 18" x 12" as dimensions. There are several pictures of the table there. Enough to figure its construction. Looks like there is a lip for the backend to rest on the machine. The hard part will be cutting the slot for the arm properly, but a careful poster board template, and a scroll saw should fix that. The height has to match level with the machine, obviously. If you don't have the iron base, just measure from whatever stand you are using. 3/4"/1" inch thickness seems like what I'm looking at. A nice hardwood, or modern MDF board should work fine. The one I have for my Toro is about that and MDF. It uses threaded rods and nuts to adjust height to machine.
Beener Report post Posted April 22, 2009 (edited) Thanks a bunch for the suggestions. Teh probelm is not that I don't have the base, I don't have the machine yet either. I have the machine and base that I am picking up after I get back from where the scroll saw is. The design is pretty simple, the part that I am trying to have sorted out is the scroll sawing template. The hinges, table height, and clamps are all things I can sort out when I get back and actually have the machine and base to work with. My biggest questions are simply about the dimentions of the machine itself and not really the table at all now. I have sent a couple of messages to some people with doctored up pictures to get the size of the hole sorted out. I could return from Manitoba with a blank peice of wood with just the hole cut and work the rest out from there. I am just not the owner of a scroll saw, nor am I as amazing as my father at using one. This is all helping greatly, so keep the hits coming. Beener Report post Posted April 24, 2009 Thanks everyone. I have a tracing of the slot that needs to be cut, so I am all good for my trip. I have designed the leg to look the same as the irons and my father will saw the fretwork and the Singer oval S in the leg as well so it will look like the irons continue up to the table. I will post pictures when it's done. Thanks again
