Jumping In

Recommended Posts

I'm ready to jump in. I want to buy some beginner's tools and the supplies for my first project. There seems to be SOOO much info to absorb. I dont have alot of money and have been looking and looking for something cheap but will also teach me some of the basic techniques.

I am almost on overload. So I have decided to stop sticking my 'toe' in and I'm just going to 'jump' right into it.

I am going to order the Basic 7, 2 dyes, 1 finish and 1 antique. I guess I will have to add sponges or something. Its almost at a $100 CAD and doesnt seem like i'm getting much.

It always seems a lot of money when you begin, but trust me, $100 is just the start! LOL

Have fun!

LMAO! I need to know where you guys shop to manage the cost of the addiction. I can hardly imagine Tandy accepting my offer..."I got these cheeseburgers man!"....LOL...hopefully i'll be a recreational "whack-head".

When I got back in, I got the basics kit from Tandy and "a few little things" to make a belt. My visits to any leather store were regularly over $100 each. One thing I did that helped was to put an ad on Craigslist under the "wanted" catagory for leather tools. I paid like $50 plus shipping for a couple of basic sets of tools and what ever other goodies they happened to have.

(Just as a warning, that first belt ended up being about $250 after I got the tools I "needed." I am so glad I did it though.)
