Okay, so I need to start lacing up this solo seat and decided on the round braid for the lacing. I have 1/8" lace but what I need to know is how big should the holes be, how far from the edge should the holes be placed and at what frequency per inch or apart from each other should they be? Also, should a round core be used? How bad will it look without using one? Thanks!

When using 1/8" lace, I use 1/8" holes spaced 1/8" apart and about (you guessed it) 1/8" from the edge. The lace will pass through each hole twice so it fills them pretty well. I just did a windshield bag and a pillion seat using a 1/8" chisel for the lacing holes instead of a hole punch, and I really like how it turned out. Every thing laced very tightly. I don't use round lace for these, so I'm not sure how round lace would look, but I would think it would add a lot of bulk to the braid.

Im looking at having my leather cad designed and laser cut so it will make it a little better for me as I have bad elbows from 15 years of painting cars.

Just wondering how wide of area you are covering? I would think that using 1/8" lace it would have to be pretty wide for it to look right.
