Members ps0303 Posted August 17, 2009 Members Report Posted August 17, 2009 Looking at The Thread Exchange for 277 bonded thread. They have Natural and then they have White. The white says the type is "soft" and the natural is "bonded." What's the difference? Using this to make holsters. Quote
Cobra Steve Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 Hey buddy, soft means that the thread has not been bonded. You want bonded nylon for holsters. It will allow the stitch to be consistent and stronger. Thank, Steve Quote Thank You Steve Tayrien Leather Machine Co., Inc. 2141 E. Members neelsaddlery Posted August 18, 2009 Members Report Posted August 18, 2009 Bonded thread has a special coating applied to the outside of the thread that makes it more resistant to fraying. Bonded nylon is a better choice for sewing leather items in general as opposed to thread that does not have this coating. Quote Ryan O.
