Members Deluxe Rider Posted September 10, 2009 Members Report Posted September 10, 2009 I am new at leather working and have a question...I stamped letters and used a shader to go around them on a piece of natural veg tan cow belly. What do I use as a finish that will darken the shaded parts but not darken the whole piece a lot? Thanks in advance! Quote
Contributing Member TwinOaks Posted September 12, 2009 Contributing Member Report Posted September 12, 2009 Hi and welcome to Leatherworker.net! For darkening the areas around the letters (where you shaded) you can use an antique stain, or highlighter. First you have to put a resist on the leather, then apply the stain or highlighter. When it's dry, you wipe the area with a damp cloth/sponge and it will remove the stain/highlighter from everywhere that isn't shaded. Quote
