In regard to the rig she wanted it simple and to the point mainly interested in being able to get the gun out and back in the least amount of time. I also, made a molded shotgun belt for her. Quote

Members longtooth Posted March 12, 2010 Author Members Report Posted March 12, 2010 Yes, people here are very nice. Did she want it for competitions? Yes, she does the mounted shooting and was going to the Sass shoot in Arizona to do the mounted and the ground shooting. She needed a rig for the ground shooting which is designed a little different than the mounted one. Quote
Members kurtalderson Posted March 12, 2010 Members Report Posted March 12, 2010 I'm interested in the details of your project: what kind of leather; how did you color it; what was used to weatherproof or finish the leather. I have made several holsters now, but no full rigs. Yours is very nice looking. I like the natural, flat finish. I used a Tandy product on my last holster and it made for a "wet" look. Not really what you're going for in a holster. That holster is pictured in my photo for this site. Quote

I saddle soap the leather before cutting and working it. When done I let it dry and then put a coat of pure neats foot oil on it and let it dry. During the construction I should say I use a lot of saddle soap to keep the leather supple for moulding and finishing. As far as weather proofing never had the need to do that because the type of shooting we do if it starts to rain the guns and leather go under cover. Quote
