Here is the saddle that won the Art of the west show in Kamloops BC. Ryan Cope recieved 2nd runner up with a great saddle. Will try and get better pics later.

Darcy Sorry you didn't make it... The outcome may have been different.!! Chuck Stormes judged this competition and it was great to have him go over the saddles with the individual entrants.

Cool saddle, Andy. Like the strings and fork. Neat ideas. Did you rawhide the tree at all, or is it just straight varnished hardwood?

Andy,

thanks for the photos... sure wish I could have made it up to the show! Congratulations on your saddle as well as the Joe Marten award. For anyone who doesn't know, the Joe Marten award is given to someone who has been influential in the promotion and/or preservation of Cowboy / Western Heritage in the Province of BC... Andy was presented with the award at the Kamloops Cowboy festival this year.

If you have any other photos from the show, i'd sure like to see them. Congratulations Ryan, love to see the saddle you had there as well.

Congrats Andy on two beautiful entries. Great show. Also, thank you to Chuck Stormes. One on one critique with Mr. Stormes is priceless, in my opinion. I hope to see some of you here next year. Second weekend of March. Kamloops is a fun place. I'll post some pics when I get back to the states.

Some exceptionally fine work, fellers!

I said it on the other forum, guess I'll say it here too. I believe the craftmanship and artisistic endeavors are constantly improving throughout the history of the western saddle. Some of todays makers are the best there ever has been.

Ryan,

Thanks for the photos. It is a great looking saddle. Very nice job with the interwining meandering border and florals. Once again some great layout and designs with the mixing of these even down into the flow of the billets and the seat.

Ben

Andy,

It's just a red roll of paper. I do crop the very small stand I use.

IT'S TERABLE!

You better send it out to me to ride in!

Lol just kidding, this saddle has the quality that makes a persons (or at least a horse persons) heart jump around a little.
