Contributing Member Jordan Posted April 28, 2008 Author Contributing Member Report Posted April 28, 2008 Yup, vacum is next step. The only option I get in that screen is to delete the attachments (photos). I can download them 1 at a time but was hoping there was a way to select them all and download them all at the same time. Contributing Member Jordan Posted May 20, 2008 Author Contributing Member Report Posted May 20, 2008 (edited) Finally got everything taken care of. Not that I wanted to but I setup a dual boot system so I can use the photo card slots, a lot easier than plugging in and unplugging the camera even if I have to continue to use MS. On the board I found the manage attachments but it will only let me select all to delete. Since my system crashed and I lost most of my recent photos I would like to download all my photos to my hard drive but am not looking forward to doing it one at a time. Any suggestions? Thanks Nevermind I had some time so I downloaded them that I needed. Thanks to this board I didn't lose em permanently. Edited May 20, 2008 by Jordan Quote
Members paris3200 Posted May 20, 2008 Members Report Posted May 20, 2008 Did you try the new dual boot install that you can do from windows add/remove programs? Jason Quote http://www.parisleatherworks.com
Contributing Member rdb Posted May 20, 2008 Contributing Member Report Posted May 20, 2008 I'm glad to hear you're up and running. I've got an old toshiba tecra 8000 in the shop, been running ubuntu for a long time, a tad slow cause it only has 128 memory, but for email, and internet, it's fine. I upgraded this morning, knowing I'ld be sorry, and I am..Heron has much more than previous versions, and well, it's just too much for my old clunker. So either, I downgrade, or buy more memory...sheesh. I even read the recommended memory for install, but did it anyways..guess what, they were right...lol I love it on my desktop. Jason was referring to the windows program Wubi, I believe. You can do an install from within windows. It actually leaves windows in complete control, even to the point of add/remove linux, but basically it's running linux in a virtual environment. That's okay for someone wanting to try out linux, but a pure install or a pure dual boot is better in my opinion, which we all know ain't worth diddly... Quote Web page Facebook
Members paris3200 Posted May 21, 2008 Members Report Posted May 21, 2008 Yeah Wubi was what I was trying to get to, I just couldn't recall the name. It strikes me as an interesting idea. I was curious if anyone had any experience with it. I currently have dual boot setup on both my laptop and my wife's laptop. I'm not sure why we still have windows installed. Between the two of us we might use it once every three months. I'm also running Ubuntu on a web development/print/music server. I really like it. If you need a copy of heron and can't find one on the web I might be able to find an old cd floating around here. Let me know if you need it. Jason Quote http://www.parisleatherworks.com
Contributing Member Jordan Posted May 21, 2008 Author Contributing Member Report Posted May 21, 2008 I use ubuntu almost exclusively very good all around, only use win to access the photo card slots as drivers are not released by the company for open source that I can find. Also occasionally access my msn email and use media player to transfer stuff to the opal that I have that chokes on linux. Eventually I will delete all the ms junk and go free all the way again.
