Members Fredo Posted November 22, 2010 Members Report Posted November 22, 2010 I'm having trouble getting a good burnish on the edge on 3/4 oz veg tan leather. The problem is the leather is so thin that I can not maintain a firm line to run across my burnisher. it wobbles and bends causing a ugly finnal product. Quote
Contributing Member Jordan Posted November 22, 2010 Contributing Member Report Posted November 22, 2010 A piece of burlap or denim material rather than a burnisher, one side then the other while lying on a flat surface like a marble slab has worked for me. Quote
bison Posted November 23, 2010 Report Posted November 23, 2010 I agree with Jordan...lay it on a solid surface and keep as little of the leather hanging over as possible. I use a curved plastic burnisher that's grooved for thin leather, and it doesn't take much to get a nice edge. Be careful of overdoing it. Dave Quote

Members bex DK Posted November 24, 2010 Members Report Posted November 24, 2010 I think I've done it by putting it on a flat surface and leaving it there with somethign else near the edge on top so it cant bend. Then burnish with a rough cloth with a little saddle soap. Then flip and repeat to be sure to get it more rounded. Quote
