Ron Edwards Stockman Belt Gulf Knot

Hi,

I've been trying to duplicate the gulf knot Ron Edwards demonstrates in his Bushcraft 8 book, but something isn't quite right. Any suggestions/ideas? The knot won't lie straight - see pictures - and seems too bulky. I haven't had any luck finding additional tutorials/info for this knot. The scrap I'm practicing with is 5-6 oz if that matters.

Sense your just trying it out. You might try getting the leather damp and hit / tap it with a smooth faced hammer and see if that helps on it laying the way you want. Might work and it might not.
