EvadCarpenter Report post Posted January 16, 2011 This is just a simple holster for my impact drill. Nothing too fancy for a first project. I started with making a cardboard template. I cut the hide a little bigger than the template, next time I'll make it a little longer where it wraps around the drill. (if I ever need another one) Stitching it up in the pony. The thread kept looping around the wing nut so I taped it up. And here it is so far, stitched and trimmed. I still need to add a retention strap. My plan is to finish with just resolene. If this holster works for me I'll make another and actually try dying it. I'll post a reply when it is completed in a few days.
dirtclod Report post Posted January 16, 2011 Nice job on your holster. I really like your ideal on the holster. It's far ahead of the commerical ones i have seen. I wonder if you would need a strap if the drill sat a little more up right in the holster ?

I wonder if you would need a strap if the drill sat a little more up right in the holster ? Thank you. It does seem to balance pretty well just wearing it around the house, but I am always climbing ladders and moving around so the added safety of a strap should keep accidents from happening. I'd hate to have the drill fall out and break, or worse hit someone on the head from 16 feet up.
Rayban Report post Posted January 16, 2011 I dunno man....if that battery pack is as heavy as mine...it may not ride so well even when strapped in.....let us know please...
gregintenn Report post Posted January 16, 2011 Looks great! I'll bet it would fit a hi point pistol as well.
EvadCarpenter Report post Posted January 17, 2011 I dunno man....if that battery pack is as heavy as mine...it may not ride so well even when strapped in.....let us know please... Well Rayban you called it, the drill does want to roll backwards towards the battery without the strap. although I did wear it all day today without incident. Definitely gonna add the strap, and another layer at the belt slots. Looks great! I'll bet it would fit a hi point pistol as well. Haaha, Probably fit one with a scope AND a tactical flashlight. =P
okie44 Report post Posted January 19, 2011 I like the tape on the wing nut, been cussin mine for a while, and just too lazy to try something. Oh, and the holster looks like a good idea too.
EvadCarpenter Report post Posted January 20, 2011 I added the strap today and it absolutely did the trick, the drill doesn't even shift around. next step is to finish, I'm trying to make vinegaroon..... we'll see how well that turns out in a week or two. Thanks for looking. =)
