At first I thought it was a so called "trick braid", but the instructions for the trick braids I've seen involve making 2 slits in the strap so you end up with 3 strands and this seems to have just one slit down the middle. rkissane Report post Posted January 20, 2011 (edited) It is called a slit braid and is use with horse tack a lot. Here is a nice PDF on attaching a string to a saddle that will show you how to do it.
