Members JRCHolsters Posted January 26, 2011 Members Report Posted January 26, 2011 I had someone ask me how I do my belt slots, as it isn't necessarily obvious from my pics. I thought I would post it up here for anyone interested. I really like forming the tunnels on my holsters, as I think it creates a very finished look and adds stability to the holster. The belt tunnels are actually easy. I just put the belt slot cuts in the back piece of leather about 3/4 inch back. When I glue the front and back together, I am very careful not to get any glue in the belt tunnel area. Then I sew up to the edges of the tunnel and fit a belt into the holster about mid way through forming it. Sometimes I have to wet the tunnel area more than the rest of the holster when forming. This really makes for a tight, yet smooth fit to the belt. Here are front and back pictures. Quote J.R. Customs Holsters

Members Shooter McGavin Posted January 27, 2011 Members Report Posted January 27, 2011 Very cool custom trick. Mind if I utilize it on one of my personal holsters sometime? While I've got your "ear", I notice the backside of the holster is cut out above the revolvers cylinder. If you molded it identical to the front, would the revolver pretty much be impossible to remove? Thanks! Quote Zlogonje Gunleathers

Yes, without the cut out, you could pull until the end of eternity and the gun won't come out, once mounted on the belt. If I didn't mold them so tight, it probably wouldn't be needed, but I like the way the it looks. Quote J.R. Customs Holsters
