masterblaster666 Report post Posted March 1, 2011 Hi All, Well Im from Beautiful San Diego. Ive been trying to get more into doing manly things. I have homebrewed, dabbled in taxidermy, done some wood working/burning I figure next is Leather working in awesome crafts. I spend 40+ hours in front of a computer screen I do my best in my free time to live like we are suppose to Outside with the fresh air working with my hands. I found this site cause someone had posted about a leather wallet they made on the Art of Manliness. I had been scared to get into Leather Working at frist cause I might get entirely consumed with all the things you can do with leather make shoes, belts, bags the list goes on and on. I want to learn more and try new things. My main problem is not having the space 2 do all of the things i enjoy. So having the space to work leather and taxidermy next to my home brewing supplies is the worst. Im at least very lucky to have a Tandy Leather Supply in my city so I cant complain they were very nice and helpful with my request to wanna make bad ass stuff with skulls and dragons on them instead of flowers. Like anything on leather is awesome but they knew what I meant. I plan on asking a shit ton of questions and I hope Im not that big of a Newbie. I bought the Basic Leather Beginning Kit from Tandy Leather Supplies and Ive been making my way Slowly thru the crafts in that kit. I have already ruined the coaster and destroyed the FOB Key Chain oh well live and learn. Thank you for your time.
BillB Report post Posted March 2, 2011 MasterBlaster666 - Welcome to the Forum. I think you will find a very friendly group of folks from around the world here. All of us are interested in the Art and Crafts of Leather. We each have our own stories of starting and how our first projects turned out. Walk around, talk to the folks, listen in on some of the conversations. Please join in when you have a question or something to added. There is free coffee and donuts down the hall in the corner. You will find lots of helpful information and instructions on doing things. Again, welcome to the forum BillB.

masterblaster666 Report post Posted March 4, 2011 (edited) Hey All thanks for the welcome. Yeah the Leather Bug has bit me and it sweet sweet poison is spreading like wildfire! I have gone thru my Starter Kit again re working and revamping the key chain i thought I ruined and also the coaster. Im slowly getting the hang of it. I tottally realize Rome wasnt built in a day and so I figure baby steps on my projects and keep working on them a little bit at a time. Spending bench time on this forum is a great trade off. I really like search function it is really helpful. I do have a question on posting my projects Do I just throw them up there? Or what is the protocall for posting my work. I have 12oz. skin when it comes to being criticized. I look forward showing my work to such a large and diverse group of professionals. Edit: Can someone allow me access to the Off Topic/Adult Pages of the Forum? Thank You. Edited March 4, 2011 by masterblaster666

BillB Report post Posted March 5, 2011 Masterblaster666, If they are for general consumption, then there are several places you can post. On the leatherworker Board there is "Critique My Work" which is where you post if, you guessed it, you want to have people critique your work. The second place is "Show Off" which is where you want to show what you have been doing but do not necessarily want any comments. In addition to that there are the forums on various types of leather products where you could post your project. If it is not for general consumption, then you are headed in the right direction with the limited access section. BillB
