Members Shooter McGavin Posted March 15, 2011 Members Report Posted March 15, 2011 I picked up a cheap, but sorta pretty, and very sharp, Gerber knife at the gunshow Saturday. I thought I'd try making a sheath for it. It came out pretty decent I suppose. Now I want to make more It is made from Hermann Oak 6/7 weight leather, Fiebings Cordovan dye thinned 1:1 with rubbing alcohol, and the black center panel is textured with one of the background tools I borrowed from my wife. Finish is my custom satin sheen/ super sheen/ water sealant on the cordovan dye, and full strength super sheen on the black. The knife fits really nice and has an audible "snap" when it pops in. Members The Grizzly Posted March 15, 2011 Members Report Posted March 15, 2011 Very nice! That looks like a rehandled Gerber blade...I've never seen anything that fancy from Gerber! Quote
Members Shooter McGavin Posted March 15, 2011 Author Members Report Posted March 15, 2011 I think it originally sold as part of a fixed blade/folder set. If you search "stag and burlwood Gerber knife" some links pop up. Guy was walking around with a cardboard box full of the fixed blade knives with nylon fabric sheaths for 10 bucks. Said he had 50 of them when he walked in, had maybe 9 left when I seen him. Was selling them for 10 bucks each. I should have bought more of them, it's not too shabby for a work blade. Quote
