I am looking at building a pair of cowboy style hobbles, all one long piece that loops through itself in the center. Just wondering how long you make them, how wide they are, and anything else I might need to know. also, any patterns you might be able to upload would be helpful. Thanks

The ones I made are 39 inches long, the strap part is 1 1/4 inches so uses 1 1/4 buckle. The wide part where they flare out for the strap slots is 2 1/2 inches. 5 from buckle bar to center of first slot, 5 inches between slots center to center. I only use these on horses that have already been hobble broke. Hope this helps if you need more PM me and I could try to send you the pattern.

The Leather Crafters & Saddlers Journal Mar/April 2006 has a good section on hobble making. I think you can still buy back issues.

Thanks so much. I think that with the information you gave me, I can get a pattern made up by myself. But again, I really do appreciate your help on it. This will be another first for me.
