Sheridan Show

Recommended Posts

Well the Sheridan show is over for another year. I had my best show there of any kind, EVER! Sold a lot of head knives, and all the straight knives and trimmers I brought. One item that sold out the first day were the blades I make for draw gauges. If I had brought a hundred of them, I think they would have all gone. I got to meet Bob Park, Bob Doublas and Chan Geer, whom I'd never had the pleasure to meet before, and they even picked up a knife from me. I also got to meet a lot of members from the Colorado Saddle Makers Assn. through Bob Klenda. Great bunch of people there.

The one thing I really enjoyed about the show was that vendors there have been going for nearly 20 years now and its almost like one big family. Being the new kid on the block, it really felt good to be accepted and gathered "into the fold". I was made to feel like one of the 'family' even though this was only my second year in attendance.

The only thing I regret is that it was just me alone at my booth, so I didn't have the opportunity to wander around and look at all the fantastic work being done. I'm a knife maker, not a leather worker, but what I did see of the craftsmanship on display there just blew me away...almost overwhelming! There were pieces there of all description, from book covers and briefcase on up to saddles and all were just beautiful.

I'll definitely be going again next year. Dave Reis puts on a well run show and everything was organized and ran smoothly. It rained continuously every day of the show...(I'll have to talk to Dave and see if he can fix that!)

All in all, one of the most memorable experiences I've ever had!
