hh1302 Report post Posted June 25, 2011 Howdy all. Have only made a couple of other posts on here, but am basically brand new. Have wanted to try building a saddle, but the advice on here seems to be get some old ones and repair/restore first. I've done a few "bunkhouse" repairs on saddles, and re-rigged a 1950s vintage child's saddle for my son a couple of years ago. Not a complete restoraton by any means, but a good usable saddle. I have a "thing" for the old highbacks, and just picked one up on ebay that looks like it will need a good bit of work to get back usable. Really looking forward to meeting new folks, learning new tips, etc. as I make my way through this. Am enjoying this forum. spur2009 Report post Posted June 26, 2011 Howdy Hugh: I also like the old timer high backs and have restored many many over the years as well as doing a right good bit of musem restorations. I have quite a few in my own collection. Becareful however inusing them as the bars are mostly to shot and the gullts are to narrow.
