Members Curious Cat Posted July 17, 2011 Members Report Posted July 17, 2011 Hi all, I'm hoping someone can give me some advice. I've been working with Fiebings blue oil dye and no matter what I seem to do I always get a red hue, when I apply resolene the red becomes even more visable. I've tried spirit dye too and get the same problem. I've tried applying to damp leather, dry leather, adding light coats, thick coats, nothing seems to make a difference. I don't have this problem with any other colours, any idea's what I'm doing wrong??? Cheers, Cj Quote
Members steve hansl Posted July 19, 2011 Members Report Posted July 19, 2011 Try oiling it then after it sinks in for awhile rub it down until the color stops rubbing off,by then most of the metallic look should be gone. The final finish coat should leave you with a deep navy blue.I did a belt today, first navy one,and it turned out pretty good for a rush job.I usually don't finish a belt in one day.
