Hobble Size

Recommended Posts

What size does each side of my hobble need to be if I'm making the type with the ring in the center.

I can't recall what mine measured out at. I know I mostly followed Grant's measurements in his Encyclopedia. I don't have the book in front of me so I can't tell you the page. I would think you might want to adjust to larger if you are making them for a big horse like a dumbblood... er warmblood or something with draft in it. I'll try to remember to measure tonight when I ride.

Thank you so much Megabit! :You_Rock_Emoticon: That helps a lot. I have Grant's Encyclopedia but in my experience the sizes in the book can sometimes be off a bit so I wanted to double check on the size because these hobbles are going to be a whole lot of work.

Oh, what size ring is that?

thanks again....

Hey! I have made a pair that were 15'' cuffs and they were a little too small! They are darn pretty and just hanging in a collection, but next time Mr. Nate Wald said loop to button 17''. That means your initial braid 34'' + enough left to do your knot foundation however you do it! My hobbles are posted in my profile albums if you'd like to see them!
