Need Help!

I need a wolf mast for a get-together my friends and I have (improvisational theater based on ancient myth and lore), and I want to make it myself, but I can't seem to find a template for something like this: http://nrr4x5.devian...ask-1-202175768

Try playing around with some thin cardboard until you get the shape you want.. or even newspaper to start with.

I would start by laying the paper across my forehead, hold it tight against your head where you want the top edge to be and draw a line with a felt pen. cut that line out .. hold it in place again and press it down against your nose to get where you want the edge of your muzzle to be.. that gives you an approx bottom edge. Draw down the bridge of your nose and cut out the eye shape so you can see. The rest is just refining the edges. Use smaller bits of paper and join it on to make the overlap bits that have the rivets in (or bits of masking tape) until you have a final top flat bit. It looks to me like the under the muzzle is a seperate bit, as are the ears and band obviously.

Nothing wasted if your only playing with newspaper except a bit of time.

Aluminum foil mask. It'll take the shape of your face and stay that way until you flatten it. Use an over sized sheet and you can pretty much make a 'mold' of your face. Then draw out the shape you want and cut it out. There's your base template. Molding the snout and ears will have to be taken into account, and you may want to make them out of additional pieces of leather that are glued in place. Skive the edges down to a 'feathered edge' (meaning really thin) and use a good quality contact cement....maybe a few hidden stitches with a curved needle for additional strength. Wet mold all parts, airbrush on your color, then seal with an acrylic, on both sides. You might also consider lining it with fabric to avoid chaffing from the leather. Don't forget your strap/head band mounting points when you do the layout.

Option 2: Skip the pattern step. Get a large enough piece of leather, case it, and mold directly to your face. The leather will be quite pliable, but you'll need to keep it in place a while to ensure that the molding takes.

Option 3: Go to a beauty supply shop and get a mannequin head that's close to your size, mold on it.

Thanks, everyone! I decided to just wing it and sketch out a (very) rough blueprint based on the pictures and got it almost perfect within three tries!

...The only problem is that I did it small-scale, so now I have to figure out how to get the proportions just right to get it just the right size in full scale. lol
