anne newkold Report post Posted August 4, 2011 I am getting ready to lace a 3 ring binder. I was wondering if anyone had used the Mexican round braid to do one. Was the braid to stiff for the angle of the folds of the covers?
dawn Report post Posted August 14, 2011 I've made four 3 ring binders as photo books and i have used the mexican basket weave on all of them. They stay closed on there own just fine. I know some people use the whole binder and just cover them in leather. I tear them apart and just us the the 3 ring part . The photo sleaves i use are too big for store bought binders and stick out so i make my own books using stiffener inbetween the leather. So i can't say if that would make a difference or not, but i wouldn't think it would be a problem doing it that way too.
Spence Report post Posted August 14, 2011 I've worked the Mexican braid on a number of objects and you have a choice of one, two or three loops, depending on the object. I've worked a checkbook with one loop and a 10 oz dog collar with three loops. As far as the folds are concerned, I would experiment and maybe work the lace while the book is closed. A couple of looser loops maybe. The checkbook with a one loop braid worked fine. g'luck
