King's X Posted August 25, 2011 Report Posted August 25, 2011 (edited) It is a handheld tool which was marketed by 'Pro Petal' used to undercut and lift areas of leather to create a 3D effect. The 'sharp' probably signifies that it ready to use. Being sharp is very important because of the angle and what is designed for. The first picture shows a C.S. Osborne version of the same tool. Other stamping tools offered and used for the same effect are referred to undershot or undercut bevelers. Tandy has a version of this tool and is listed as Craftool B60. Tandy Leather Factory also sells under their 'Modeling' tool line one that has the same tips as the 'Pro Petal' tool. I hope this helps. Edited August 25, 2011 by King's X Quote

You can buy one, or make one (or a few) if you have an inking of 'tinker' in your little finger. Basically, it's a shaft that's cut at an angle (and sharpened or not) and is used by pushing into the leather at leaves, flowers, etc., wherever you want to raise the leather up. You place it at the edge of the tooling and slide "sideways" into the tooling so that the leather is lifted around the tool. Here's a pic of one found at Greyghostgraphics.com Quote
