CrashInBlack Report post Posted August 27, 2011 Here's some I finished recently. Most went to customers (actually, several to the same guy...) Stingray inlay for a Security Six. I think this is the best one I've ever done.
Big O Report post Posted August 27, 2011 Just looking at that first one makes my shoulder and wrist ache.... Nice workmanship, in general, but that first one would be very awkward to draw from. I like your design for the tan 1911 holster. Belt slots could be a bit smaller. Edges look about 1/2 of the way there. I'd burnish more before applying the Edge Kote, and my edges are nothing to write home about.
CrashInBlack Report post Posted August 27, 2011 Yeah, that first one would be very awkward, but that's exactly how the customer wanted it. I'm not sure how he sits with it. I've not actually used edge cote yet, just hand-burnishing.
TwinOaks Report post Posted August 27, 2011 Good start on the holsters, but still a few rough spots. Something to note about small of back holsters (or SOB)- There is a potential for injury using that placement. If you were to fall or be knocked down and you landed on your back, you have a piece of steel right across your spine. It'd be akin to getting hit across the spine with a metal bar. That might not be an issue for you, but it's something to think about. That is the one type of holster I won't make, because of the risk potential. CrashInBlack Report post Posted August 27, 2011 Yeah, can't say I plan on making any more of those. It's very comfortable while standing, and that's about it...
