klint fluitt Report post Posted August 28, 2011 I'm lookin for a machine to sew my saddle skirts, they usually range from 1/2 and less. I know I can get a cheaper machine that sews 1/2 but I don't want to constantly fix the timming. I'm in a budget but what is a good machine to sew skirts with, I looked at the ferdco 440 and the techsew GA5-1R but I heard they aint any good so I need advice. TwinOaks Report post Posted August 29, 2011 Check into the 441 clones made by Artisan, Cobra, and Cowboy. They're machines capable of at least 3/4 inch and use the Unison feed mechanism. A 9 inch arm machine should run you just under $2K, and the 16 inch machines go for around $2500. It's more machine than you probably need, but they will do the job and then some. The major suppliers of these machines have ad banners at the top of the page. I
