Members Aggiebraider Posted September 13, 2011 Members Report Posted September 13, 2011 Howdy everyone, Im in the process of finishing the buttons on a set of romal reins, and I cant figure out how many I should put on them. I am doing a full set with each button touching the next, and I was hoping someone had a good rule of thumb on how long the buttons should go up the reins and the romal. They are 8 ft reins. Id appreciate any info on this, CW Quote
Members megabit Posted September 13, 2011 Members Report Posted September 13, 2011 Well one of the reasons for the buttons (other than added weight) is to protect the body of the reins from horse sweat, so I would say far enough up that most of what lays on the horse's neck has buttons. Quote
Members Rawhidelady Posted September 13, 2011 Members Report Posted September 13, 2011 Using the rule of 1/3 is always a good bet and would be equally pleasing. So on 8 foot reins you would go 32" max. Smiles Quote
