When a supplier refers to a hide as "belt grade" Is that a So-So or average or very good quality ? Thanks folks

It really depends on the supplier. There is no official "Belt Grade" so it can mean anything they want it to mean. Ask the supplier how it would be graded if it wasnt for belts. Ask him for the actual grade of the leather. It could mean very good or it could mean its not good for anything else.

Belt grade leather is a very good grade of leather if the supplier is honest in his assessment of the leather. Usually there would not be any brands, hanger marks or any noticeable imperfections.
