Guest Wimsyd Report post Posted May 10, 2012 I am currently looking for a leatherworking apprenticeship. Just spent 3 weeks apprenticing for a master saddler in Kentucky and am fascinated with leatherwork, but need more experience with the tools. I am interested in saddle repairs, building saddles and making bridles (and other equestrian related tack), and making custom work for bikers. Based in CT now, but I am willing to travel for a terrific opportunity. Thank you, Monica wimsyd@yahoo.com
bdt46 Report post Posted May 11, 2012 An apprenticeship in a leather- saddle shop is really hard to find these days! Most shops have a waiting list a mile long of people wanting to learn the trade. If you are interested in a good school, there is one in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. It is South of Tulsa, Ok. about 40 miles. The school is GREEN COUNTRY TECHNOLOGY CENTER and they teach all types saddle and boot making. They have a website under the same name that you can look up for all the particulars. Good Luck in your search and hope you can find what you are looking for.
