Howdy From A Husker

Recommended Posts

Howdy y'all. I'm new to leather working and have made a few projects to get into it. I just found this forum resiliently and it has been a great learning tool. I think the hardest thing about starting out is that when you finish a project you know exactly where every little flaw is on the piece because you get to know it so well before you are done. It may look great to someone else but it always catches my eye when I look at it lol. Here are my first projects I have completed. The first is just a set of spur straps stamped with a good basket weave stamp and finished with cheap tandy finish. Those bottles have been thrown out. The second was my fist attempt of finishing a basket weave with the Sheridan style finish.

Hey! Funny you should say that you see every little flaw, even when others can't...I have tossed alot of spur straps because of that! You have done a great job on these, and you'll only get better as you go:)

I about tossed the second pair because the edge dye got away from me, but I loved the way the tooling turned out. Plus they were for me so I really didn't care too much.

Welcome from another Husker.

Well, if you hit the dirt often enough, you'll never see the edge dye:)

This is nice work ,just fine ! I have been there many times when the edge dye gets away . I offered to myself this advise: Go slower ,burnish more I try and still mine arent perfect . Just saying I know the feeling . These will last ,give good service , and wear well . Nice job ! Dont sweat the small stuff . Bill
