Members Matt Alsaker Posted October 7, 2012 Members Report Posted October 7, 2012 (edited) I have tried several methods of dying leather, but never dipping the leather since I've never had that much dye on hand at one time. I'm ready to give it a try. What types of tubs or basins do you use - what's easiest? Do you pour the dye back into the original container or are the tubs you dip in sealed? To dip a belt, do you just wrap the belt up on itself dunking it all at one time or do you try to pull it through the tub? I've been using Fiebings Pro Oil Dye. Any other advise would be great. Thanks. Edited October 7, 2012 by Matt Alsaker Quote http://www.alsakercustomleather.com/ https://www.facebook.com/AlsakerCustomLeather?ref=hl
Members EquusCustomLeathers Posted October 7, 2012 Members Report Posted October 7, 2012 Hi Matt! I just tried this for the first time today..I dipped a holster for cordless clippers that I made for a friend. I used a small glass bowl, and just kind of rolled it around a little bit, and then poured the leftover dye back in the bottle when I was done. It worked perfectly, and I just rinsed out the bowl afterwards. It did a beautiful job. If I were doing a belt, I would just pull it through the dye slowly, and make sure it's covered evenly. Quote
