Members hrsmnx Posted October 12, 2012 Members Report Posted October 12, 2012 About how much square feet does it take to do a set of shotgun chaps (Ray Hunt Style)? If it is over say 24' that would mean 2 sides or 1 hide I guess. Any tutorials on fitting and measuring? I have Mark B's chink making dvd but didn't know about fitting for inseam and calf/knee measurements. Thanks for any input. Jamie Quote
dirtclod Posted October 12, 2012 Report Posted October 12, 2012 Ever pair i have made i got one side and that was plenty. Not sure what your talking about when you say Ray Hunt style. Quote
Members harrington Posted October 12, 2012 Members Report Posted October 12, 2012 I make mine from a pattern very similar to Ray's and it does take a bit more leather than some other patterns. You will need a wide strip to sew on for the fringe or cut your leg pattern wider to cut the fringe directly on the leg, also need a good size piece for the cuff on the bottom of the leg. I order from the Hide House and if you ask them to send you a side 24' or larger and not real narrow through the middle, you will have plenty. Quote
