Shipping Finished Leather Goods

Recommended Posts

Just wondering what type of material to use for protecting finished leather goods for shipping. Bubble wrap? Foam peanuts? Newspaper? I don't really know what to use to protect holsters and belts from getting marks during shipment. Any help would be appreciated.

I was told a long time ago that shipping leather in plastic was a no-no. I use "cheese cloth" to wrap anything that is to be shipped now, and then foam peanuts.

Yeah, I didn't see it in writing anywhere, but I had a feeling plastic wouldn't be a good idea. Where do you get cheesecloth at?

I get the cheese cloth at the local fabric store, I think you may also be able to get it at Home Depot as well, just not in big pieces.

I wrap my things in paper towels then put some bubble wrap over them. If their is space left in the box i put some crumpled news paper in to keep things from sliding around. That has been my way of doing things for close to 15 years and i never have had a problem.

I wrap the item in tissue paper that I get from the dollar tree that is used for wrapping presents, then I wrap it in bubble wrap and away it goes.

Ahh ha. And with Christmas right around the corner I'm sure I could stock up at a low price. Thanks Chief.

The stuff I get is about 15 or 20 sheets for $1.00 at the Dollar Tree, it is very thin but protects the leather from the plastic, works well for me and isn't that expensive.
