Members Cowhorses Posted December 12, 2012 Author Members Report Posted December 12, 2012 Hey Shtoink...I just seen where you are into the electonics side of things. Have you done much re-solder of boards? I know the solder required today is pretty bad stuff, no lead and such and these things don't last like they should. Had an couple incidents with my Dodge and boards needed repair and there was nobody I could find West of the Mississippi that did it. I thought it was a pretty good deal. One was my ABS controller. They wanted $1080 for a new one and you couldn't buy just the board part. There was an outfit in GA that did a re-do on them. Sent it there and cost me $71 total with shipping and all and it works great. There are other boards like on injection pumps etc. Seems it would be a great business. Those folks in GA, said they do hundreds of these and air bag modules(and more) weekly. I did have a radio repaired here in Yakima..same deal..bad solder on the board. If ya start to do that kind of thing...let me know. Quote
Members Havamal Posted December 12, 2012 Members Report Posted December 12, 2012 I have to admit having a Tandy just down the road is handy! The only problem is that I tend to spend to much when I go in there and I am usually in there once a week or so Quote ~ Matt ~ Success is finding something you love to do, then finding someone that will pay you to do it!!
Members Cowhorses Posted December 12, 2012 Author Members Report Posted December 12, 2012 You been to McPhearson Leather in Seattle, yet? Often better prices than Tandy. Well, it used to be. Been awhile for me. It's worth the trip to just see whats in there. I think they also have a website. Quote
Members Havamal Posted December 12, 2012 Members Report Posted December 12, 2012 Nope, but I am going to try get by there next time I head up that way. Quote ~ Matt ~ Success is finding something you love to do, then finding someone that will pay you to do it!!
