Hi everyone,

I have a few tandy edge bevelers and the smallest I have and have seen is the size 1. Are there any bevelers smaller than this that anyone knows of? It doesnt matter if they cost more, I'd like to make some finer/thinner/smaller beveling than this one can provide.

Thanks for your help.

You may be in the realm of making your own, which shouldn't be hard to do. Start with steel rod stock, grind/sand the flat, and use some needle files to cut the groove size you want.

I also recall that someone was making/selling edgers made from table knives. If you've got a spare, you could start with that as it's already got a handle and most of the polishing work ( as well as heat treat) is done for you.

Thanks twin oaks, but I can't see myself making one. Anyone else know where u can get a smaller edge beveler than the number 1 tandy edge beveler I have? Surely someone makes a smelt one?

That last line was supposed to say "surely someone makes a smaller one". :)

The English made edgers and some old Osbornes can get pretty small. I'll see what I have when I get into the tool shop later on.

I do have a couple of Dixon edge shaves that are smaller than a #1 Tandy I found. I have a really fine French edger that is super narrow too.

Ive contacted Rons tools a couple of times now via email with no response. I cant really call them either because of the time difference between both countries. Anyone know where else I can get some?

Thanks so much.

Sorry, I missed this. They are on my website in the tools for sale section. The French edger is on the French Edgers and Gouges page, the edge shaves are near the bottom of the Edge Beveler page.

Hi Bruce,

I had a look at your site and found the section, but there are so many. I have no idea which is which. ? :( Which ones are they in particular? I've only ever owned the tandy ones so dont know what sizes all those are on your site.

The narrow French edger is #520. The two narrowest Dixon edge shaves are #697 and #1335.

Thanks!

Bruce
