Ruger Blackhawk Pancake

Recommended Posts

Customer asked for a pancake CCW holster for his Ruger Blackhawk. Definitely the strangest request yet. Originally it had straps for a thumb break safety and then customer called and wanted to remove them. Not a problem, but I would have shaped the holster a little different if I had known he would change his mind.

The most important thing I learned? Next time charge more for this oddball stuff that will require extra time to burn a prototype.

Sorry the pic is not great but it already put me behind in schedule.

I can appreciate your lessons learned. But I really think you nailed this one. Good Job.

Good job, George, . . .

It's been a couple years, . . . but I made one "back when" for a fellow I think in Colorado.

It actually was one of the easier ones I've done for a revolver, . . . I used my single six to mold it, . . . he seemed very satisfied, . . . and kept the thumb break.

One thing for sure, . . . if someone ever pulled out a single six as his CCW, . . . I'd be right good and careful of him. All the folks I know who have em, . . . they can use em, . . . forget that spray and pray stuff.

May God bless,

Dwight

Thanks everyone. Customer picked it up and was very happy, ordered another for a Star and it just happens that I have a good pattern in the style he wants. It took more time with this one but I'll make it back with the new one. Sometimes things do work out okay.

And Dwight, I would have to think anyone carrying a single action is crazier than I am. I'm running like all get out.

Nice work, George. I agree about charging extra for 'special requests.' I have a guy dropping off a Super Redhawk tomorrow for me to make a holster. He's a repeat customer (three other holsters) so I'll probably go a little easy on him, but that beast of the pistol is going to be a challenge to make a holster for. Can't imagine he wants it for actual carry..

I have a good one too. Try a shoulder holster for a Taurus 44 mag. with an eight inch barrel and four compartment speed loader pouch on the other side.

That looks great! It is exactly what I was thinking of doing for my own Blackhawk.
