wokka Report post Posted March 7, 2013 Fellas (and Ladies), Long story short, my bike got damaged getting shipped to the new country, so I'm in the market for a new seat. and for what I want, my skills aren't up to scratch What I'm after is a seat that looks like it has been on the bike for decades, scuffed, scratched, and worn in all the usual places. about 16" long by 12" wide, shaped like a La Rosa 16" seat with a decent kick up at the back, double loop lacing around the outside, and standard mounts Base colour wise, I'm thinkin something like this, bike is matte army green with brass highlights and soon to be blacked out engine, so if you got other colours you think would work better, say so: and now the fun part, this is a sketch a tattoo artist I have been following for years has done, but never fully completed that I want tooled on the seat: Now I gotta run all this past the Handbrake, so figure out what you would charge including shipping to Doha, Qatar and drop me a line Wok

wokka Report post Posted March 8, 2013 Hi Chancey, You've got some beautiful work mate, but 600 € is too rich for my budget. Thanks
chancey77 Report post Posted March 8, 2013 Thanks !! I was trying to give you a break:) normal solo pan and tool from just about anyone who makes seats is 800... The triple loop lace in a seat Like that takes 16 hr just for that part not including the 40 hours of tooling and assembling the solo seat... My seat pans cost 40€ just for the pan.. They are hand made and shaped and rolled. So you are looking at 4-5 days if work for a pro.. A novice could take 1-2 weeks depending in their skill level. I do this everyday so I know how long it takes me working 8-10 hours a day.. Maybe someone that is more hungry will cut you a deal here but for me 600 is a deal. You can always buy one of those crappy seats from La Rosa and recover it ... But tht is already 150 when there is in my book only 50 in materials so La Rosa is money wasted by a hobby leather crafter who doesn't do as many as I do where every material is the best from metal - leather- padding- lace... I understand having a budget ... So why don't you tell us what your budget is... I know some hungry guys:) just trying to help ya out however I can.. wokka Report post Posted March 9, 2013 Hi Chancey, My budget tops out at 1000 qatari rials (around 370US $ Shipping is around 70US $ On the little starter pieces I have done, I understand the work that goes into a seat, especially with the lacing and tooling. If I cant get someone hungry enough to do it in budget, I'd probably have a go at it myself. Thanks

Cyberthrasher Report post Posted March 10, 2013 I think you should have a go at it! If you need some advise we are here for ya! Ditto this. You just gotta jump in and do it. I'd say do your design on a practice piece to prove to yourself that you can do it. From there, get to it
