Members HollerBornCustoms Posted August 30, 2008 Members Report Posted August 30, 2008 Well, I found a "dye" today that doesn't work. Walking through the house a little bit ago and tripped over one of my son's cats. In the process of trying to catch myself, I dropped the bottle of hot sauce I was carrying. Guess where all that sauce landed when the bottle broke. You guessed it, right on a arm guard I was working on. Think I got most of it off in time, but a few areas seem to have soaked in pretty quick. Gonna try and see if I can blot it out in a bit.. Glad I hadn't got too far in the tooling process yet. Quote

If you switch to Jamican Hell Fire hot suace you will not have that problem it is so thick I can barely get it out of the bottle when I try. Edited August 30, 2008 by Windy Quote
Members HollerBornCustoms Posted August 30, 2008 Author Members Report Posted August 30, 2008 Jamician Hellfire....hmmm, I'll have to try that. Kinda ticked me off that I broke this bottle. I've had it a few years. Can't remember the name (label has worn off). It's super strong. Only about a 4oz bottle. Came packaged in a coffin. Only takes a teaspoon or so to make chili so hot only the iron-gutted can eat it. I did manage to get it out of the leather. There's a spot or two that are slightly darker than the rest of it, but I think I can manage. I'll have to soak the heck out of it with some scent killer before I go out in the woods, it reaks of sauce (who knows, maybe I'll find a deer that likes hot stuff). Quote
Members Windy Posted August 30, 2008 Members Report Posted August 30, 2008 I've had it a few years. Only about a 4oz bottle. A bottle of hot sauce does not last me very long. Then again I like hot food. Next time you have a taste for something different take a tater ,put it in the microwave for 3 and 1/2 minutes.Cut into 1/4 slices. Dip them in flour then dip them in a mixture of 50/50 hot sauce and egg whites then dip in flour once more. Then fry in a cast iron skillet (in a 1/4 inch of olive oil or bacon grease if you want great flavor)over medium high heat till golden brown. Salt to taste as soon as you take them out of the pan. Members DJ1935 Posted August 30, 2008 Members Report Posted August 30, 2008 Just wondering if the cat is still alive?! Quote
Members HollerBornCustoms Posted August 31, 2008 Author Members Report Posted August 31, 2008 Yeah, the cat's still alive. He's pretty quick...epecially when he's got a nose full of hot sauce. I think when I cut out the armstraps I'll do it in a flame pattern. Windy, I am definately going to try that tater idea. Sounds yummy. Quote
Members DJ1935 Posted August 31, 2008 Members Report Posted August 31, 2008 Bet he would have been a whole lot faster if the sauce had landed on the tail end! Good luck with the clean up - and the culinery delights. Quote
