Dollyrkr Report post Posted April 22, 2013 (edited) Hi there. Inspired by this jacket that's in the attached pic, I want to dip dye deerskin with that sort of effect. It's for a zodiac purse I'm making, so I want the leather to conjure the night sky. I have some light pinkish deerskin that I want to dip dye and most of what I read on here regarding dip dying it seems that you're dying veg-tan and thick leathers for belts and holsters and whatnot. And then a lot of you have issues with it bleeding, despite buffing it. Obviously I can't buff deerskin after I dye it, so - can i not do this? Will it bleed for sure? Of course I can't sell a purse that's going to stain anyone's anything... but I LOVE that effect. Can anyone advise me? Thanks so much! Dollyrkr Report post Posted April 22, 2013 also, if dip-dying deerskin is not feasible, I presume that she's wearing lambskin in that picture? so, is that do-able, and can y'all advise on that? thanks so much... again, my main concern is for it not to bleed at all. PutnamLeather Report post Posted April 23, 2013 I have some buckskin I wanted to dye, I was thinking of using an air brush and also air brush 50/50 res and water over that. I haven't tried it yet due to lack of air brush. Just an idea.
Dollyrkr Report post Posted April 23, 2013 Thanks Putnam Leather but I can't be experimental as far as the bleeding is concerned since I can't sell a purse that's going to bleed dye. Can anyone answer? Pretty please? help?
