JHDVM Report post Posted May 18, 2013 Howdy, I've been spying around on here off and on for about a year now, living vicariously while venting my frustration with a schedule that allowed me little to no time for leatherwork, sleep, eating, and, some days, basic hygiene. Now it appears that my life will be somewhat my own again so as soon as I get my tools unpacked I hope to unleash in a big way. There are some great ideas on this board and some serious inspiration! I made my first set of spur leathers in 2003, and since then I've attempted, with varying degrees of success, wallets, holsters, belts, halters, bridles, martingales, chinks, and a few stranger things. I'll never do it full-time, but it's a great hobby that pays some of its own expenses, and I'd be thrilled to get my skill up to where it doesn't look like my 6-year-old nephew did the tooling. I mostly make using tack and try to pretty it up a little bit just for fun. I'd like to get some good coaching and maybe hit some workshops since up to this point I've been on my own. I'll have some pictures up once I get moved and start doing work, just wanted to go ahead and say my howdys.
