raysouth Report post Posted July 6, 2013 Howdy All, Hoping to find information/assistance with a project I have been interested in doing for a number of years. Passed down to me, some years ago, was a family bible with birth, death, and marraige information of ancesters of the 1700's. The book itself, is in very good condition for it's age, but the covers and binding are not much. The rear cover is fairly intact and board/cardboard? insert from front cover is there but loose. What I would like to do is learn how to cover the book in leather for donation to?????, as I am the last of the family line. If anyone can assist or head me off in the right direction, it would be much appreciated. I have purchased a couple of books on bookbinding but not much in there having to do with covering by leather. The penmanship of my ancesters is beautiful and certainly not how we would write anything today. Hopefully, it will be enjoyed by some caring soul, or to whomever I decide to donate the book. I've got a few resources that will point you in the right direction, but I'll have to post them in a few days, as I'm not at my computer. You will need a handful of tools and supplies to start off.
