Members Hogpaw Posted September 6, 2013 Members Report Posted September 6, 2013 I have been out of leather crafting for several years. I need to make some holsters for my hammers. I cut the first one out and the leather seemed bad. It would tear like paper. I checked the hide all around and it tore on all sides. I cut a piece off, wet and tried to fold it and the grain side cracked bad. With this hide stored inside, could e leather have gone bad. I probably haven't touched it for 10 years. Quote
mlapaglia Posted September 7, 2013 Report Posted September 7, 2013 Sounds like it dried out. Try a couple of coats of Neetsfoot oil on a section and see if that helps. Let it soak in over night between coats. It might take 3-4 to restore the leather. Quote The key to immortality is first living a life worth remembering. Bruce Lee
