Hogpaw Report post Posted September 6, 2013 I have been out of leather crafting for several years. I need to make some holsters for my hammers. I cut the first one out and the leather seemed bad. It would tear like paper. I checked the hide all around and it tore on all sides. I cut a piece off, wet and tried to fold it and the grain side cracked bad. With this hide stored inside, could e leather have gone bad. I probably haven't touched it for 10 years. Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
mlapaglia Report post Posted September 7, 2013 Sounds like it dried out. Try a couple of coats of Neetsfoot oil on a section and see if that helps. Let it soak in over night between coats. It might take 3-4 to restore the leather. Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
